The Victorian Government has released the Coronial Council of Victoria’s Appeals Reference report.
The Attorney-General commissioned the Coronial Council of Victoria to review the rights to re-open a coronial investigation or appeal coronial findings under the Coroners Act 2008.
In preparing this report the Coronial Council of Victoria received submissions from families, the Coroners Court, the Supreme Court and other legal institutions and relevant organisations.
In total, the Council made 11 recommendations to enhance the options for families seeking a review or appeal of coronial findings.
The Victorian Government is carefully considering the review in detail and will respond to the recommendations in due course.
