In 2020, the Coronial Council undertook a review into opportunities to improve the experiences of multifaith and multicultural families within the coronial process, which was conducted at the request of the former Attorney-General, the Hon. Jill Hennessy MP.
This review was initiated in recognition of the fact that coronial process can sometimes be at odds with cultural and religious practices, and that there is a need to review the coronial process for opportunities to better meet the needs of multifaith and multicultural communities.
Council’s final report was endorsed by the Attorney-General, Jaclyn Symes MP, in April 2021.
