This report presents the findings of the Council’s review, having considered whether the Coroners Court of Victoria (CCOV) operates in a way that is sufficiently responsive and sensitive to a broad range of bereaved family needs.
It provides options on changes that could be made to improve the experience of families in the future.
The review acknowledges that the inquisitorial nature of coronial investigations can at times be at odds with the private experiences of grief and trauma felt by bereaved relatives.
The Victorian Government is carefully considering this review in detail.
